Original recipe yields 3 dozen

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Lightly grease 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.
  2. In large mixer bowl combine sugar, butter and egg until creamy (2 or 3 minutes). Reduce mixer speed and add flour, baking powder and salt until blended.
  3. Spread batter into baking pan. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until set.
  4. Sprinkle chopped chocolate bar over batter and top with marshmallows and peanuts. Continue baking 10 to 12 minutes until marshmallows are lightly browned. Cool and cut into bars.

I chose to broil the marshmallows until lightly browned, which only takes about 40 seconds in my oven--unfortunately, on my first try I let them sit for about a minute and a half--hey, at least I know my smoke detector works. . . Finally, these are not by any means an elegant or sophisticated bar--but kids positively inhale them! They are ooey, gooey, sticky delicious fun--I should know, I've certainly eaten my share today."
