Original recipe yields 8 - 9 dozen

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Cream together sugars, shortening and butter. Mix in the eggs and mix well.
  3. Stir in flour, cream of tartar and baking soda. Stir in vanilla and salt and stir until well blended.
  4. Roll dough into walnut sized balls. Flatten with glass bottom dipped in sugar. Bake for 10 minutes.

The orginial name was "white sugar cookies" The last time I made them I used the prepacked "butter flavor crisco" This makes this..." See more cookie even richer. I also use purchased sugar and cinnamon mixture. Almond and lemon extracts make these have a different flavor. They are addicting and don't last long in my house.
