  1. Cream together butter or margarine and brown sugar, packed Add 1 egg yolk, sifted flour, and vanilla. Batter will be stiff.
  2. Spread on a greased 13 x 9 inch cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  3. While still warm, add 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips to top of cookie until melted. Spread with knife until top is covered. Add chopped nuts, if desired. Let cool, then cut into squares.

These are rather good altho they're pretty rich. My dad complained that he couldn't eat very many at a time because of all the sugar. Maybe use a little less if you have a low sugar tolerence. O...

This was just okay for me and my family. But I am wondering if it didn't turn out because I baked it in a 9x13 cake pan. Next time I will use the cookie sheet.

Liked this recipe. It was very easy and quick. I think toasted almonds would have made this even better.
