  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.
  2. Cream the shortening and brown sugar together until light. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, 3 tablespoons drink mix, baking powder, and salt. Dissolve the baking soda into the buttermilk. Stir in the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk mixture. Stir in the white chocolate chips. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.
  3. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Frost cookies while still hot with orange glaze.
  4. In a small bowl, blend together the butter, 3 tablespoons orange drink mix, and confectioners sugar until smooth. Mix in water 2 teaspoons at a time until a pourable consistency is reached. Drizzle or brush onto cookies while still warm.

Guess what? If you think it is strange to put Tang in a cookie - trust your instincts. These just taste weird and chalky. Skip the Tang and use fresh OJ and orange zest for orange cookies.

The orange flavor is too strong. If I make them again, I will cut the amount of Tang in half or at least by 1/3. Also, this didn't have any impact on the taste or texture of the cookie after it was baked, but the dough was unusually dry as opposed to the usual stickiness of cookie dough. If you like Dreamsickles, you will like these cookies!

Not sure if I did something wrong when I made these, but the batter was quite runny. Looked more like cake batter than cookie dough. I ended up making one pan of bars and one dozen cookies. Despite the weird consistency, these tasted delicious. I would probably make them again.
