Original recipe yields 3 to 4 dozen
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In the top half a double boiler melt the chocolate and condensed milk, stirring frequently.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the coconut. Stir in the vanilla and salt. Mix well until the coconut is completely coated. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet. Press one whole almond into the top of each cookie.
- Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes. Check at 8 minutes as the bottoms tend to burn easily. Remove from oven and cool.

The one I know, You add the coconut to the milk with a box of powdered sugar and ..." See morethe vanilla mikx together well. Chill until firm. Use small cookie dough scoop and scoop out balls. If you need to, roll in hands to shape a little better. Place on cookie sheet and place in fridge to firm back up. Melt semi sweet or milk chocolate chips in bowl in microwave. Dip coconut balls in chocolate, place back on cookie sheet and imediataely place a ROASTED almond on top and slightly press down. Let coating harden either at room temp or speed up by placing in fridge. Now these will taste more like the popular candy!"
