  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Add the 2 eggs and vanilla; mix well. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt; stir this into the creamed mixture. Finally stir in the cherry chips.
  3. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto cookie sheet, and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Edges should be golden brown.

good to mix things up a bit and not always do the same old choc chip or sugar cookies. we made ours into a valentine's day giant cookie cake and frosted with chocolate.

This recipe is wonderful. It is a big "hit" with the whole family. I didn't have shortening, so I used all margarine and they were still wonderful.
