Original recipe yields 2 dozen

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the shortening with the brown sugar and white sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg; stir into the creamed mixture. Then stir in the rolled oats, marmalade and raisins.
  3. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.

Was surprised these came out so good... Moist and chewy. I used 3/4 c brown sugar, half white and half whole wheat flour, no nutmeg, 1/4 tsp orange zest. My kids love them. Rated 4 stars cuz a changed it a bit.

WONDERFUL cookies! A must try! Everyone loved them!

VERY disappointing. The cookies baked up paper thin. The second tray I chilled the batter the third tray I added more flour. It didn't help. Will never make these again! waste of time and ingredients.
