“This recipe is great for hibachi on the beach or in your backyard. You can also broil it in your oven if you're not in Hawaii or near a beach. It's a easy way to prepare a shrimp dish that's 'ono' (delicious) and moist! You can serve this either as an appetizer (pupu) or entree. I prepare it either with or without the shells on - depending on how fast I want people to eat 'um up! Aloha from Hawaii!!! Enjoy!”

Original recipe yields 12 skewers

  1. In a large bowl, or large zip-top bag, mix together the sugar, lemon pepper, parsley, garlic, oyster sauce, and mayonnaise. Add the shrimp, and toss well to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour to overnight.
  2. Preheat a grill for medium-high heat. Soak skewers in water.
  3. Thread shrimp onto skewers, and grill until they are pink and firm, 2 to 3 minutes per side.

Wow! Made these shrimps for our annual 4th of July Beach Side BBQ. Wish you all could have been there to hear the rants and raves. Everyone there wanted to know how I prepared the shrimps. The shrimps were certainly the hit of the party trumping out all the other dishes. The wives (me being a male) all wanted the recipe. I only use Best Foods Mayonaise and for me the Best oyster Sauce is Lee Kum Kee brand. Thank you iluvpickles for a winner! I guess I will have to make this again next year. The only thing that topped it last evening were the fireworks! All the Best to you!

For someone who doesn't like spicy food, this is a good recipe. My parents really enjoyed it on Mother's Day on the grill with some steak.

This is some of the best marinade I have ever tasted for shrimp. Instead of grilling, I baked in the marinade for about 15 min. at 350. We put the shrimp in a taco with avocado ranch dressing. Thanks for the recipe!
