Original recipe yields 12 to 15 servings

  1. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain and set aside. In a 9x13 inch pan layer the lettuce followed by the peas, green pepper, bacon, cauliflower and celery.
  2. In a small bowl combine the mayonnaise and the sugar. Spread mixture over salad. Sprinkle cheese over top. Cover and chill for at least 8 to 12 hours before serving.

Good salad. Lettuce will stay firm if you use iceberg. I also used green onion instead of green pepper. This added a nice contrast to the sweetness of the dressing.

I got this recipe from a friend years ago.Since then I have made it for family bbq's and friends dinners parties.Everyone loves it and marvels at how easy it is. I have changed my dressing slightly,I add 1/2 mircle whip salad dressing and 1/2 yogurt. It is much lighter and just as good.

I rate recipes by asking myself if I would make them again and this one I would not make again. After 12 hours in the fridge you end up with a pan of soggy lettuce and tasteless veggies.
