Original recipe yields 1 pie
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, combine eggs, evaporated milk, and mashed navy beans. Mix well. Add sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Pour mixture into pastry shell.
- Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake an additional 35 minutes.

"I love bean pie, but I really didn't like this one. This recipe didn't say anything about the "skins" of the beans. It says to "mash" the navy beans. Mashing did not get rid of the skins and they made..." See more the consistency of the pie horrible. Maybe if the beans were pureed, it would be ok. Also, the pie wasn't sweet enough for me so I would add more sugar if I made it again."
