Original recipe yields 1 pie

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (225 degrees C).
  2. In a large saucepan, combine water, sugar, flour, salt, vanilla, butter or margarine, and lemon juice. Mix well, then stir in raisins. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
  3. Pour raisin mixture into pastry-lined pie pan. Cover with second pastry. Seal edges and cut steam vents in top.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, then lower the heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake an additional 25 to 30 minutes.

I've been making this pie for my dad forever and he LOVES it! It rarely lasts the day, so I only make them on special occassions! The kids (9 and 6) say it's easy to make, and they have begun helping me make it! Thank You!!

I've never had a homemade raisin pie before, but I (and my company) found it overpoweringly sweet. I had a small piece and could hardly finish it. I also thought it should have solidified a little more. Next time I'll try a different recipe. Thanks anyway!
