  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and reserve.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown bacon until crisp; drain on paper towels. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of bacon fat.
  3. Add sliced onions to skillet and cook over medium heat in bacon fat until slightly browned. Add broth, hot pepper flakes, and bacon; simmer until ready to serve.
  4. Add penne to mixture in skillet and heat until warmed through; serve immediately.

put in some spinach for extra umph... real simple but it is a nice mix of flavors

This was really good. I added small white beans. Spinach would be good also. Quick and healthy-(use your own home-made chicken broth of course)

This is a yummy dish thats really easy to make. I think that next time, and there will be a next time, I might add some extra tomatoes.

This was pretty bland but okay. Add some zing and it'd be way better.

Super easy and tasted good. Family liked it. Not a stellar, serve it for company kind of dish but a good basic easy weeknight dinner. I will certainly make it again.
