  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 quart casserole dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the apples, bread crumbs and sugar. Add currants, nutmeg and cinnamon; mix well. Add the eggs; stir gently to combine. Pour into the prepared casserole dish.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until solid and golden brown.

I followed this recipe exactly and it turned out very bad--it was so dry and has no taste or consistency. I am not sure if an ingredient is missing or what the problem was.

I added about 1 and 1/2 cup of milk as well as a 4th egg. The end result was a moist bread pudding that was very bland. The spices need to be increased.
