“Sugar and milk are beaten into egg yolks over heat and then chilled before adding rum and whipped cream in this recipe for the traditional holiday beverage.” - by SARALAUGHS52
Original recipe yields 5 to 6 cups
- In the top of a double boiler, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar and salt. Add milk and mix well.
- Stir frequently and cook over hot water until mixture thickens to coat a metal spoon.
- Mix in rum and chill.
- Beat whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Fold into chilled egg mixture, pour into glasses and top with freshly grated nutmeg.

This also makes the recipe sweeter - We serve the whipping cream on the side so each person can make it as sweet as they like."
