Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, stir in the Smarties (TM). Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. All done! Now take a photo, rate it, and share your accomplishments!

PERFECT! Hubby and I both loved these. Tonight I was looking for a cookie recipe that only used baking soda as I was out of baking powder. When I saw this recipe used candy-coated chocolate, I knew I wanted to try it as I had some Almond Joy pieces I also wanted to use. It was a perfect match. It was very easy to make but it didn't tell you how to prepare the cookie sheet. (Perhaps Allrecipes can fix that for you) I used parchment paper and it worked very well. Thank you PAYDRA for sharing your recipe!
