Original recipe yields 4 cups
Directions
- In a small saucepan, combine the milk and flour. Cook over medium high heat until boiling. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- When the milk mixture is cool, add the butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer for 10 to 12 minutes, scraping the bottom of the bowl occasionally. Keep frosted cakes refrigerated until 1/2 hour before serving.

If you do use this recipie sub the white surgar for confectioners and add a 1/4 more. half the fatty shorting or just use double butter flavored margarine. It is somewhat lighter than most frostings, but still holds on to the cake while frosting. I would refrigerate after frosting because of the milk and bring out 30 minutes before serving. I just made this using Eggnog in place of milk for an eggnog cake I made."
