“The name says it all! The crunchy walnuts perfectly complement the smooth chocolate custard. My boss says it's the best pie he's ever eaten. ”

Original recipe yields 2 - 9 inch pies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Place margarine in a small glass bowl and melt in microwave for 45 seconds, or until liquid. Set aside to cool. In a large mixing bowl, beat together eggs, sugar, cooled margarine, and vanilla extract.
  3. In a small bowl, sift together flour, cornstarch, and cocoa powder. Stir into egg mixture until smooth. Mix in evaporated milk, stirring until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Pour half of mixture into each pastry shell. Sprinkle each with 1 cup chopped walnuts.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, until set in center. Allow to cool. Chill at least 4 hours before serving.

ok the first time we made this it turned out like fudge. We made it again and realized we messed a ingredient up. It turned out perfect! I gave this recipe a bad review at first. I am now recanting that review and giving it 5 stars. yes!! I will be making this again.

Very good chocolate pie! Next time, although, I am going to double the recipe so it fills the pan completely. Very dark, dense, rich chocolate pie and easy to make.

This was a very delicious pie. The top bakes up crunchy and the middle is like pudding. The only bad thing about this pie: waiting for it to cool. But once it sets up it is perfect. This is going in my permanent recipe file. I didn't want to share. If you are a chocolate lover, you will love this wonderfully rich pie.
