Directions

  1. Thaw the pastry sheet at room temperature for 40 minutes or until it's easy to handle. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper. Stir the egg and water with a fork in a small bowl.
  2. Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Roll the sheet into a 13x9-inch rectangle. Brush with the mustard. Cut the pastry into 8 pieces.
  3. Place 1 piece kielbasa onto the center of each rectangle. Brush the pastry edges with the egg mixture. Fold the pastry over the kielbasa and press the edges to seal. Place the rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with the egg mixture.
  4. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden. Remove from the baking sheets and cool for 5 minutes on a wire rack. Serve with additional mustard for dipping, if desired.

I loved these...simple, yet a bit different than the typical "pigs in a blanket." They were perfect for our Super Bowl supper and the leftovers were good for breakfast. Tasty stuff!!

I've done this with crescent rolls. Just open the tube, roll each piece up with the ends sticking out, add a small piece of cheese if you like, and bake. They are wonderful! And much easier to work with than puff pastry.

I made a bunch of changes to the recipe - But it was fabulous! I only had filo dough - so i used 5 sheets of that (I sprayed PAM in between the sheets.) I used turkey deli and honey-mustard salad dressing to coat it. I placed the deli in the middle of the filo dough and folded the sides in. I brushed the top with an egg wash and sprinkled it with sesame seeds - I baked it for about 25 minutes - It was sooo good!
