"This was my grandmother Freda's 'famous' cherry salad. It was a huge hit at family gatherings. My mom mixes the lemon Jello, lemon juice, cream cheese and mayo in the blender. But here's the original recipe. Enjoy!"

  1. Dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir in the cherry pie filling, then spread the mixture into a 7x11 inch pan, and refrigerate until nearly set, about 45 minutes.
  2. Dissolve the lemon gelatin in 3/4 cup boiling water; stir in the lemon juice, and set aside. Mash the cream cheese in a separate bowl until soft, then stir in the mayonnaise. Pour the lemon gelatin into the cream cheese mixture and stir until smooth. Next, stir in the undrained pineapple. Finally, fold in the marshmallows and whipped cream. Spread the pineapple mixture over the chilled cherry layer, and sprinkle with chopped walnuts. Chill in the refrigerator until fully set, about 2 hours.

I made this for Easter with ham and scalloped potatoes. It was great! You could almost use it for a dessert though because it was very sweet. A very pretty spring salad/dessert.

Yum! This reminded us of cherry cheesecake a bit. Wouldn't change a thing w/ the recipe.

Very good salad/dessert. The combination of the cherry and lemon flavors is excellent,

I enjoyed this and made as written, except did not add the nuts due to people who are allergic. I might try it w/ a different flavor such as strawberry pie filling next time.

I thought this was very good. Easy to make. I made it for Thanksgiving but hardly anyone ate it (but that is not too surprising as this particular crowd doesn't do jello salads much). My 4 ye...
