Directions

  1. In small bowl, mix sugar, chili powder and red pepper; set aside.
  2. In large microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in cereal and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  3. Microwave uncovered on High 5 to 6 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes, until mixture just begins to turn brown. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.

":( sad story: I made this tasty recipe, and (surprise) added garlic powder, dried minced onion, pretzels and more cayenne. Microwaved it 2 mins. Stirred. Microwaved 2 mins again… and it burned!!! Make sure to stop when it “just begins to turn brown.” Thankfully I only made a half recipe, so I didn’t waste too much, and I was able to salvage some b/c the top was still okay. Still sad though b/c it tasted really good. Will try it again, this time making the full amount and stirring often."
