“Warning: can become habit-forming and a weekly regular on your kitchen table. Good change of pace from traditional burgers, great served with mashed potatoes or rice. It's so easy to tweak and add your own twist to this meal. Good Southern comfort food.” - by JUSTJEN33

Directions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, onion, beef base, and pepper in a bowl. Tear the bread into large pieces, and place into the bowl. Let the bread soak for a few seconds and add the ground beef. Mix the meat into the egg-bread mixture, and form into 8 patties.
  2. Heat a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat, and fry the patties until they are browned and the meat is no longer pink in the center, about 8 minutes per side. Set the patties aside.
  3. Remove the excess grease from the skillet, and whisk the mushroom soup, water, and Worcestershire sauce together in the skillet until smooth. Place the patties back into the skillet, spoon sauce over them to cover, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook until the sauce is thickened and the flavors have blended, about 20 minutes.

"I fixed this exactly as directed. I did cut the receipe in half since I was feeding only my husband and me. We both thought it was very good. I wouldn't change a thing. The steaks held together wel..." See morel, and beef base and worchestershire sauce flavored the steaks just right. I would suggest spraying the pan before browning the meat. I cooked in an electric skillet which was large enough to cook all of the patties at once. Thanks for a good and easy recipe. "

"This is Wonderful. I did add some beefy Lipton onion because I didn't have the beef base on hand. I only used 1/2 packet thinking it might be to salty. 5 stars on smell & taste! Thanks for sharing!..." See more"

"Excellent dish. One of my wifes favorites. I do not use the bread, and do not completely cook the hamburger before smothering in gravy. Has turned into a weekly dish...." See more"
