  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Place apples in a pie pan and dust with cinnamon and nutmeg. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  3. In a food processor chop nuts with a few short pulses. Pour in sugar and flour and process to combine. Add butter and salt and process until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle topping over apples.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

This was terrific claudia. I ate the whole thing one night! I had 4 huge fuji apples and didn't think a pie plate would hold all of them so I dumped it in an 8x8 square baking dish...

I changed a couple things....instead on instant oatmeal I used 1 1/2 cups reg. oatmeal..made with pecans...served warm with ice cream. I made in a 9x13 pan...desert was gone the same night i ma...

I tossed in some raisins to make sure that the apples wouldn't get too dried oyt, it turned out really very well. I didn't like the walnuts a whole lot so I just did loads of pecans for the sec...
