“Easy sweet squash. I also use acorn and buttercup squash for this recipe. My family loves when I make this.”

Directions

  1. Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a large baking dish with aluminum foil.
  2. Generously spread the softened butter over the flesh of the squash; lie in the prepared baking dish with the cut sides facing down.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Flip the squash and put about half the butter and about half the brown sugar in each of the cavities of the squash halves. Return to the oven until the outer shell is soft, about 10 minutes more. Spoon the flesh of the squash into a bowl to serve.

We have been doing this for years its great! It's one of my families favorites! Except we dont use the butter, just cut the squash in half, put cut side facing down, when you can stab easily with a fork then its done (like a potato). Then use an oven mitt to hold the squash with one hand and scrape out the insides with a fork, then add brown sugar to everyones individual preference! It looks like spaghetti! (i.e. spaghetti squash)

This recipe is excellent, and a great way to get the kids to enjoy a healthy vegetable. I cut the sugar to 1/8 cup and added a sprinkle of cinnamon. Kids loved it.
