Directions

  1. Mix cookie dough as directed on package, stirring in flour in bowl. Roll dough into 1-inch balls; place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  2. Bake at 375 degrees F for 11 to 12 minutes. Cool 1 minute; place cookies on cooling rack.
  3. Microwave caramels and milk uncovered on High 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring once, until caramels are melted. Dip one side of each cookie at an angle into caramel mixture to coat top half; spread if necessary. If caramel thickens, add up to 1 teaspoon additional milk and reheat.
  4. Spread about 1 teaspoon fudge topping on top of each cookie. Place pecan half on topping. Let stand about 15 minutes until toppings are set. Store between layers of waxed paper in tightly covered container at room temperature.
  5. All done! Now take a photo, rate it, and share your accomplishments!

What a hit! I was afraid dipping the cookie in the caramel would too messy, so I just used a spoon to drizzle the caramel on the top. I used another spoon to dab the chocolate, but next time I'll use a cake decorating set to pipe the chocolate on. I also used 2 pecans on each cookie. Everyone loved them!

I was disappointed the cookie didn't even taste like a sugar cookie after adding that much butter. I pulled the first sheet of cookies out of the oven two minutes early, because the edges were all brown and crispy. After cooling the oven to 350, I baked the rest for about 3 min. longer than the directions said, and that worked better. If you're using a dark pan, definitely decrease the temp. The cookies did not keep a nice shape. They flattened out. I'd say that's my fault. I followed the suggestion on the package for softening the butter. It said to put one stick of butter in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. I put two sticks in for 10 sec. They seemed to be softened, not melted, but I can't think of any other reason the cookies flattened. 12 caramels weren't enough for all of the cookies, but I may just have spread it on thick. So disappointing for such an easy recipe.
