“This is an old Air Force recipe passed down over the years, given to me by my mom. It is quick, easy and inexpensive. It may look strange to begin with but once you taste it your family will go back for seconds and thirds! Pour over mashed potatoes and enjoy!”

Directions

  1. Place the ground beef into a skillet over medium heat, and cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks, about 10 minutes. Pour off the grease, and stir in green beans, tomato sauce, tomato soup, and sugar until the sugar has dissolved. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 30 minutes; season to taste with salt and black pepper.

Perhaps the individual meant tomato paste vs. tomato sauce. Doesn't tomato paste come in that size can? It kind of makes sense, in a way, considering the recipe also calls for a can of tomato soup. Seems like tomato sauce and tomato soup would be a lot of liquid.

We used to make this at Girl Scout Camp with mixed vegetables instead of green beans. We also used tomato paste not sauce. We called it hamburger stew and it was well received.

I just wanted to comment on ingredients. I have never seen a 6 1/2 oz can of tomato sauce. They are 8 oz cans!
