Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain, rinse briefly under cold water and drain again.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the Italian dressing, basil, garlic and crushed red pepper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the pasta, tuna, tomato, avocado, red onion and olives.
  4. Add the dressing mix and toss until evenly coated.
  5. Line plates with the lettuce leaves and spoon salad on top.

Perfect dish for a warm weather lunch as it's light and flavorful. The avocado adds a different twist to the usual tuna/pasta salad.

I LOVE tuna pasta, but would have never thought to add avocado. Now, I can eat it without it!

I added a couple tbs of caesar dressing, sun dried tomatoes, and smoked paprika for a lot more flavor!
