"Wonderful served warm with ice cream...brings back wonderful memories of picking berries and sitting down at the table with my family. Works well with fresh or frozen fruit. You can also use black raspberries, peaches, cherries...a new favorite is 2 cups fresh peaches and 2 cups fresh blackberries!"

  1. Preheat an oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the blackberries into a large saucepan; add the cornstarch and 1 1/2 cup of sugar. Pour in the water, and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly until the berries have thickened, about 5 minutes. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Whisk the flour, baking powder, salt, and 2/3 cup of sugar together in a mixing bowl. Cut in the margarine until it is the size of peas. Stir in the milk until a soft dough forms, then drop by spoonfuls onto the hot blackberry topping.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 30 to 45 minutes.

I think this was overly sweet and I cut down the sugar in the berries. Maybe that would be a function of the berries. This isn't my favorite blackberry cobbler but not the worst. I think usin...

This was very good. I followed the directions exactly as written, other than accidentally boiling the berries a little to long because I got busy!!! I think they were boiling for 11 minutes in...

I cooked the berries on the stove longer it wasn't as watery. My husband and i really enjoyed this!!

This was a hit with my family... I used a pound cake recipe for the topping because that's how my Great Aunt made hers.... The berry syrup mix was awesome... Thanks to Mellissa and her Grandmoth...

I tried this recipe, 1/2 blackberries 1/2 apples. Had only rave reviews. Did not have any problem with it setting, it sets as it cools. I actually had to make a second batch, since I didn't get ...

It was good but needed more blackberries for me.

I did add way more cornstarch than the recipe called for like 5 tablespoons before I quit counting, good thing I did too because it was still pretty runny. I also added cinnamon, I just sprinkle...

Love this recipe! I tweaked it a little and did two cuts of blackberries and 2 cups of raspberries. It changes the flavor up a bit, which I like.
