Original recipe yields 4 turnovers

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. In 8-inch skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until thoroughly cooked. Drain. Stir in barbecue sauce, potatoes and cheese.
  2. If using crescent rolls: Unroll dough; separate dough into 4 rectangles. Place on ungreased large cookie sheet; press perforations to seal. If using dough sheet: Unroll dough; cut into 4 rectangles. Place on ungreased large cookie sheet.
  3. Spoon 1/4 of beef mixture onto 1 side of each rectangle. Fold dough over filling; press edges to seal.
  4. Bake 13 to 19 minutes or until turnovers are golden brown.

"Pretty good. Very easy, which is a plus in my book. I doubled recipe so we would definitely have enough for this to be a main dish. I found I didn't need to double it and had a lot meat left over. ..." See more I used the crescent dough sheets, which are very user friendly. "It turned out great! I used a real potato cut into chunks and I should have tried harder to seal the perforations in the dough... I wasn't in the mood for barbecue so I turned it into a shepherd's pie..." See more kind of filling with canned tomatoes instead of barbecue, green beans instead of peppers, added some carrots. I got some very positive feedback from the roommates. Next time maybe I'll try a mexican or a breakfast version. Does not make for good leftovers!"
