Based on a 2,000 calorie diet


  1. Toss the pineapple, cilantro, red onion, and lime juice together in a bowl until evenly mixed; set aside.
  2. Rub the mahi mahi fillets with the sesame oil to lightly coat.
  3. Sprinkle the sesame seeds evenly over one side of each fillets; gently press the seeds into the fish to assure they stick.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Lay the fillets with the seeded side down into the hot oil; cook for 4 minutes, turn, and continue cooking until the flesh turns opaque and flakes easily with a fork, another 3 to 5 minutes. Serve with the pineapple mixture.

I was a little more excited about the thought of this recipe than its result. Still - it's solid, but with a few cautions. First - add the lime juice carefully and taste. You'll need more or less depending on how sweet your pineapple is. My pineapple was pretty tart, and the addition of lime juice (in that quantity) made the salsa a little too sour. Also, a little seasoning is in order. Salt and pepper the filets before pressing in the seeds. Otherwise, it's a solid recipe and very light.


This dish was very easy to make and tasted fresh and delicious. I would definitely make it again.


Cilantro, pineapple, onion, sesame....this sounds amazing. Can't wait to make this!
