“The kids and I thought it would be fun to make up ice cream flavors as a summer project. This is my nephew's contribution. So very yummy but rich, so smaller portions would be a good idea.”

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  3. Place brown sugar into a shallow bowl; press bacon slices into brown sugar on both sides to coat.
  4. Lay bacon slices onto the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake in preheated oven until bacon is crisp and brown sugar has formed a glaze, about 20 minutes. Remove from sheet and cool thoroughly; chop bacon and set aside.
  6. Whisk cream, milk, and maple syrup in a bowl until thoroughly combined; stir in candied bacon pieces.
  7. Pour batter into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Serve soft or pack ice cream into lidded container and freeze to harden if desired.

Made this recipe for a laugh but joke is on me. I found a great candied bacon recipe and maple ice cream. Next time I will finely chop my bacon because it is weird to have to chew your ice cream that much. Maybe chocolate would be a fun add next time. My husband will have a new favorite ice cream if he gets to try this because my kids might eat it all before he even comes home.

Made this Yesterday and it is awesome. My advice to all is really brown the bacon good on a non stick pan and cool it in a fridge. The sugar will harden as well as the bacon. Then finely chop and add to the mixture as directed. We added a Raspberry liqueur as well for a hit of Maple raspberry. Lots of flavor's little servings is all that's needed.
