  1. Bring water to a boil in a large stock pot; stir in milk, sugar, cream, and butter until sugar dissolves and butter melts. Gently place ears of corn into the mixture and reduce heat to low. Simmer corn until tender, 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from the liquid with tongs and set aside under aluminum foil until serving time.

Puts the flavor right into the corn! I didn't need to slather butter on the individual pieces...though I guess you could :) Great if you're cooking for a crowd.

I have to try this again, I totally forgot the heavy cream! And the corn wasn't very good to begin with either. We both prefer to cook corn 8 to 10 minutes.
