Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
  2. Beat butter and sugar in a bowl until creamy. Stir in flour, vanilla extract, baking powder, and baking soda until dough is well mixed. Drop spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake in preheated oven until lightly browned, 5 to 10 minutes.

I figured out whats missing - it should be 2 eggs also!!

Recipe as directions produced crumbs Added an egg which made a dough finally. but I didn't care for the taste of these for some reason

Did not think of the eggs when I tried this so added 1/2 cup of milk. This was enough to make dough which I rolled into a log and sliced 1/4 inch thick. Result was a nice sugar cookie not a tea cake. Cook time was about 12 min's.
