  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x12-inch baking dish.
  2. Mash sweet potatoes in a bowl with milk, adding the milk a little at a time until potatoes are the desired consistency. Spread sweet potatoes into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Bring maple syrup and butter to a boil in a saucepan and pour the boiling syrup mixture over the sweet potatoes.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the sweet potatoes are hot and the topping has begun to cook into a sticky caramel, 20 to 30 minutes.

Wow! How has this not been reviewed yet? I discovered this recipe last Thanksgiving and my sweet potato-hatin' husband actually requested it again this year. He said it "Wasn't bad for sweet potatoes." High praise, indeed! Everyone loved it and the dish was scraped clean. I made it exactly as written.

Super simple and tasty recipe. We added a sprinkling of cinnamon over the potatoes before adding the maple syrup / butter mixture. My husband and son said it was good but asked for some chopped nuts with brown sugar topping next time.
