Original recipe yields 6 servings



  1. Heat olive oil in a 2-quart saucepan over low heat; cook and stir garlic until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and increase heat to medium; simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in chicken broth, tomato and clam juice cocktail, bloody mary mix, basil, hot sauce, garlic salt, and black pepper. Partially cover saucepan with lid and simmer until reduced, about 20 minutes. Reduce heat to low and add half-and-half; stir until heated through, about 5 minutes more.

This is indeed very good, and Hubs and I cleaned it up. But I’m not so sure this was any better or much noticeably different with the uncommon ingredients of Bloody Mary Mix, Clamato and chipotle flavored hot sauce (all not so readily at hand) than had I simply used the crushed tomatoes and a little spice to kick it up.



Really yummy... used regular vegetable juice instead of tomato clam since I had a big bottle in fridge, used fresh/frozen basil, chipotle powder and skim milk.. really tasty tomato soup

I did not use half-n-half, I used evaporated milk and just enough to give it a creamy mouth feel without adding too much fat. I also used sea salt instead of garlic salt. I made NO other changes. This is seriously one of the best tomato soups I've ever had. Everything works together very well and makes this excellent unique tomato soup. I made a grilled cheese sandwich to go with and this was a quick soup recipe that made a filling and comforting lunch.
