  1. Mix chicken soup and chicken together in a saucepan; stir in enough milk to make a gravy-like consistency. Cook and stir chicken sauce over medium heat until smooth and heated through, 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Spoon 1/2 cup rice onto 8 plates. Layer each serving of rice with chow mein noodles, the chicken mixture, pineapple, Cheddar cheese, celery, green peppers, green onions, coconut, almonds, and a drizzle of soy sauce, respectively.

This is a family favorite. This is a great basic recipe and can always be tweaked to fit your needs. We also put tomatoes and slivered almonds on ours! Yummy!

I love this meal and was searching for an easy recipe for it. It's delicious! I used some chicken broth as well as milk to make the soup more gravy-like. Also used a few spices on the chicken. As for the toppings, we also added olives. I definitely recommend this recipe and will be making this again.

Love Hawaiian haystacks, its my go-to meal in a hurry and the kids ALWAYS love it! They enjoy choosing what they want on top of their haystack! TIP: I sub the second can of cream of chicken for cream of mushroom. I also add garlic salt.
