Based on a 2,000 calorie diet


  1. Mix vegetables, water and Seasoning Mix in slow cooker.
  2. Coat beef with flour. Stir into ingredients in slow cooker. Cover.
  3. Cook 8 hours on LOW or 5 hours on HIGH until beef is tender.

I've been making my beef stew exactly like this with the McCormick seasoning package and these exact ingredients and measurements forever.(It must be the recipe on the package). I always brown the floured meat before adding it to the slow cooker and I use low sodium beef broth in place of the water. Sometimes I make this in my pressure cooker too. It's the best beef stew I've ever had.


I thought the recipe was very good but I added squash, barley,corn to it. And when I was done I made a small amount of roux to thicken it. It turned out yummy but the main thing I did was let it cook all day. My family now let's me cook more often ;)

Perfect Beef Stew. I browned beef first too. Only added bit more garlic salt and pepper. My family loved it so much!
