Directions

  1. Grease 9-inch cake pan and pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Open crescent roll and lay dough out flat on a cutting board. Dollop 1/2 cup of apple butter onto the dough and spread out evenly.
  3. Cut the dough into 1/2-inch strips. Roll each strip with the apple butter side in and place on its side in the pan.
  4. Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Mix 1/2 cup of cream cheese icing with 2 Tablespoons of apple butter. Drizzle icing over warm rolls.

This could be really good with a few modifications. I followed the recipe except for the frosting. I didn't have any canned frosting on hand so I mixed 1/2 cup powdered sugar with a tbsp of milk and stirred in the two tbsp of apple butter. These really don't need frosting and without it they would be more like an apple danish. My son loves sweet rolls but he found these too sweet.
