Original recipe yields 1 - 9 inch deep dish pie

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C.)
  2. In a large bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Beat in flour and salt. Blend in the eggs. Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into pie shell.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and bake 45 minutes, or until filling is set.

In fact,the next time I make it I'm going to try it as a base for a pecan pie. It couldn't be easier to make and the ingredients are very inexpensive. All I had to buy was the buttermilk. And don't worry if you hate buttermilk (as I certainly do) you won't even taste it. This is a very creamy, sweet, and highly addictive pie!"
