Directions

  1. Place egg in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the American cheese, mayonnaise, chopped egg and tuna. Then mix in the green pepper, onion, chopped sweet pickles, and the chopped olives. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Butter the hamburger buns with about a 1/2 tablespoon for each. Fill the buns with the mixture and wrap in tinfoil.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
  5. All done! Now take a photo, rate it, and share your accomplishments!

A nice warm sandwich. I used less butter/margerine and substituted hot dog buns. Also any cheese (diced cheddar for example) seems to work

I've had these since childhood. My mom called these "Bunsteads". I now make them for my family. The recipe is the same except I put the filiing in hot dog buns with no butter. An excellent way to use canned tuna.

I was planning on making a tuna sandwich so I thought I would check to see if I was missing out on another way to prepare it by using this most helpful website!! And yes good sandwich, tasty, I tend to burn my buns!! so the tin foil prevented this from happening!!
