Original recipe yields 8 servings

Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add noodles and cook for 7 to 8 minutes or until almost al dente (until ALMOST cooked); drain.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  3. Add the chicken, peas, soup, whipped topping, American cheese, milk, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix together and transfer mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and cover with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, then remove cover and bake for another 10 minutes. Let cool for 4 to 5 minutes, allowing cheese to thicken slightly.

Here's how to make this recipe good: -Substitute cream cheese for ..." See morewhipped topping. -Melt cream cheese together with 1/2 c. sharp white cheddar and 1/2 c. mild yellow cheese. Add this melted mixture to the other ingredients after they are mixed. -Stick to the cream of mushroom. -Add a diced onion that has been cooked a little (I boiled it with my chicken strips to make both really tender). -Lots of salt, pepper and milk. -It could stand to bake for less time. -I added parmesean and breadcrumbs to the top before baking. I would use cream of chicken instead of mushroom unless you're really crazy about the cream of mushroom flavor. Also, a package of frozen peas with carrot would really brighten this up.
