Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the peanut butter, shortening and egg until well blended. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla. Combine the flour and baking powder; stir into the peanut butter mixture to form a dough. Finally, stir in the chopped peanuts. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place them 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten balls using the tines of a fork.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges are lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.

Wow, these were good! I actually modified them a bit by adding about 1/4 c. of brown sugar, and rolling them in powdered sugar because of one reviewer stating they weren't sweeter. I probably wouldn't have needed to add the extra sugar because they were very sweet and soft. Yum!

I thought these were great. Really easy to make, and nice and soft to eat. They were definitely sweet enough for me without any added sugar. I didn't have any peanuts to chop and add so I left those out with no adverse effects.

The cookies are not sweeter because there is no sugar in the recipe. Good consistency but bland.
