Great without frosting. Not too sweet, the flavor leaves you with good memories.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan. Combine apples and sugar. Make sure apples are measured exactly or cake will be too heavy and mushy. Let stand a few minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, beat eggs slightly, then beat in oil and vanilla. Mix in flour, soda, cinnamon and salt. Stir in apple mixture and chopped walnuts. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.

what a complete mess. i should have suspected from the directions that it didn't make sense to put all the sugar with the apples. needed some of the sugar to beat with the eggs and oil. a complete flop, the cake is caved in all around the bundt pan and what a waste of ingredients.

I took the advice favoring putting only part of the sugar with the apples. I put a half of cup, and the rest I mixed with the eggs and vanilla. The cake was great. It was light, moist, and flavorful. I sprinkled it with confectionary sugar. Would definitely recommend it.

I made this cake and it came out very good. Everyone enjoyed it. I didn't have any problems with the recipe.
