  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch brownie pan.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the applesauce, rum, eggs and oil until well blended. Stir in the contents of the brownie mix. Fold in the almonds and chocolate chips. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until the center is firm. Cool one hour and cut into squares.

I used a "supreme" brownie mix with chocolate chunks already in it, used dark rum, and replaced the 1 C of almonds with 1/4 C chopped peanuts. These were easy to make and taste fairly good, but ...

This morning I tried this recipe for the first time. Not having any run, I substituted what I had (blackberry brandy) AND it is better than a 5 star!

I followed the suggestions of a few others and used Blackberry Brandy. The flavor was good, but the brownies stuck to the bottom of the pan. I made 2 batches: one with M&Ms and one with choco...
