Original recipe yields 8 servings



  1. Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain and return to pan.
  2. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  3. To the sausage add the tomatoes, basil, parsley, crushed red pepper, salt and garlic. Stir in mushrooms and pasta sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in cooked pasta and top with Parmesan cheese.

Delicious combination that we have used in our household for years. I substituted homemade sauce for jar sauce and used spicy chicken sausage to cut down on the fat.

This is a good recipe. I used a pound of ground mild sausage because that is what I had on hand. I only used a teaspoon of the basil because I ran out. I think that was plenty. More than that would be overwhelming. Next time I won't add as much parsley. Other than that it was a great recipe that I will make again. My one year old even liked it!



This pasta was great! We made it with italian turkey sausage to bring down the fat and calories even more and it was delicious! Will definately make again.
