“This is an excellent dessert to bring for the Holidays. You can use either Brandy or Rum. These do need some time to set up so it is best to make them the night before. If you don't care for walnuts, the balls can be rolled in confectioners' sugar or cocoa powder.” - by NANCERINI

Original recipe yields 5 dozen

Directions

  1. In the microwave or in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, melt evaporated milk and chocolate chips, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the crushed vanilla wafers and brandy until well blended. Roll the dough into small balls and roll the balls in chopped walnuts, then in confectioners' sugar. Store covered in the refrigerator.

"Quite tasty! I didn't roll them in my hand. I used a small cookie scoop-like an ice cream scoop-with a squeeze handle that ejects the dough. You get a rounded top with a flat bottom. (Perfect for port..." See moreion control). I put the ground nuts in a small deep bowl and dropped the dough balls into it. You can do about four at a time. Just shake the bowl in a circular motion. The dough rounds itself out and coats each one. It really speeds up the process. I gave these as gifts as got rave reviews."
