Original recipe yields 4 servings

Directions

  1. Place bacon in a heavy skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until crisp. Remove bacon, reserving 1 tablespoon drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon, and set aside.
  2. Cook onions in reserved drippings for 15 minutes, or until onion is soft and caramel colored. Stir in molasses, salt and pepper. Place in a serving dish, and sprinkle with crumbled bacon.

But, you could probably use less molasses if you want and add some white sugar as they are carmelizing. They should be just as good. Enjoy! "

Put them on homemade chipotle burgers on fresh onion buns with monterey jack cheese, roasted red peppers (also sauteed in the bacon fat), mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Seriously best homemade burger EVER."
