Original recipe yields 4 servings
Directions
- Bring the rice and water to boil in a pot. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 20 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a wok, and cook the onion, garlic, and green chile until tender. Mix in the carrot and celery. Stir in the rice, and mix in kecap manis, tomato sauce, and soy sauce. Continue cooking about 1 minute, until heated through. Transfer to bowls, and garnish with cucumber slices.
- Place eggs in the wok, and cook until set. Place in the bowls over the rice and vegetables.

"Nasi Goreng - This recipe works best if you use rice made the night before and it is cold from the refrig. I always use jasmine rice. If you do not have 'kecap manis' you can use ketchup mixed with a ..." See morelittle brown sugar. I also add chicken to mine and have used tofu. I simply saute the garlic and onion, add one chicken breast thinly sliced with the egg, then I add the veggies , chili's (always red) and season with some salt and white pepper. Once my veggies are cooked I add the pre-cooked rice and the sauces. I may cook for 5 minutes or so. "
