Directions

  1. Place onion, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, soy sauce, rosemary, mustard, salt, and pepper into the bowl of a food processor. Process until smooth. Place steak in a large resealable plastic bag. Pour marinade over steaks, seal, and refrigerate for about 3 hours.
  2. Preheat the grill for high heat.
  3. Brush grill grate with oil. Discard marinade, and place steak on the prepared grill. Cook for 7 minutes per side, or to desired doneness.

We've used the same tri tip steak rub recipe for years. We've made this BBQ Steak recipe a few times now and it is our new favorite. The only change I made was I used dried rosemary because I didn't have fresh rosemary on hand. I doubled the batch of marinade and froze half the batch for a later time. I made the second (frozen) batch last night and it turned out just as well as the first time.

Goodbye to all store bought marinades! This recipe is actually listed as BBQ but it works great even if you are broiling or pan frying your steaks. It's really easy too .. put everything in the blender and your done! For a sweeter variation, add two tablespoons of brown sugar.

This makes the best steak I have ever had but take my advice and delete the salt! The only (minor) complaint I had on this delicious marinade was that it was a little salty. The soy sauce provides enough salt. Try this once and you will love it.
