  1. Place ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and crumble until evenly browned. Drain grease, and set aside.
  2. Meanwhile place potatoes in a saucepan with enough water to cover. bring to a boil, and cook for about 10 minutes, until just tender. Drain potatoes, and remove from the pan.
  3. Heat oil over medium heat using the pan that the potatoes were cooked in. Add the bell pepper and onion. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes, until tender. Mix in the ground beef and potatoes, cooking until heated through, about 5 minutes. Stir in cheese, and remove from heat. Serve immediately.

I cooked the onions and peppers with the hamburger so I didn't need the olive oil. Also after reading the previous review, I added garlic salt and onion powder to the hamburger too. I didn't have jalepenos, so I sprinkled in some cayenne pepper. My husband ate enough to feed 3 people. We also sprinkled the cheese on our own servings instead of mixing it in. We enjoyed. Thanks Moose!

While the recipe itself may be good (have not made it) I find the name very misleading. I thought it would be a recipe for a dry mix you can make yourself to replicate the over-priced store bought mixes.

I seasoned the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce and grill seasoning to add some additional flavor. Then I removed the browned ground beef from the pan and cooked the potatoes, peppers and onion in the drippings until the potatoes were tender (adding a couple cloves of minced garlic to the mix). I used mozarella instead of cheddar (only a half cup or so) and the kids couldn't get enough!
