Directions

  1. Prepare cake according to package instructions, using two standard, round cake pans.
  2. In medium mixing bowl, beat Butter Flavor Crisco Shortening. Add confectioners' sugar, one cup at a time. Add vanilla. Slowly blend in milk to desired consistency, adding up to 2 Tablespoons more if needed. Beat on high speed for 5 minutes, or until smooth and creamy.

The five star is not for the taste of the cake or icing although both are fine. This is a great project to do with kids and grandkids. I let my grandkids aged 2, 3, and 5 ice and decorate the cake themselves. They loved it and it certainly added to our memory bank!!!
